Cooperathon 2022
It was during our participation to MTL Connect last October that we decided to register as a competitor for the 2022 Coopérathon. This open innovation competition is the largest in Canada. This platform for creation and entrepreneurship allows start ups to innovate in order to solve different challenges to be put forward all along the adventure.
This competition, an initiative of Desjardins, KPMG and Microsoft, appealed to us because it corresponds to our values and objectives in terms of sustainable development. Virgo's technology respond to current and future agri-food issues, particularly those related to climate change. In short, we aspire to facilitate the transition to a more resilient and sustainable agriculture and aim to achieve Net Zero in the supply chain.
The Beta category of the competition is reserved for new and developing companies which possesses a working prototype; this class was a natural fit for our project. The competition took place over several rounds of presentations in front of judges. For each of these rounds, only a selection of companies had the chance to continue the adventure and reach the next round. We were selected among the finalists and, at the same time, we were invited to join the Coopérathon Gala to celebrate our nomination among our peers.
It was an opportunity to meet and discover the companies we were competing with for the grand prize. Each one more innovative than the others, these work teams are clearly a key link towards the resolution of many issues faced by the world's communities.
Although we did not took over first prize, we are proud to have been appointed among the three finalists in Canada. Special mention to HOP Tech who were the grand champion of our category. This company propose machine learning applications for the identification and stratification of patients suffering from respiratory disease, type 2 diabetes and heart failure.
We are grateful for this platform that was granted to us and the opportunity to present our work. Congratulations to all the participants and organizers for this successful
edition of the Cooperathon!
